I am Director of Research and Chief Research Scientist at the Institute for Business and Social Impact (IBSI) at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. My work combines frontier empirical methods with novel data sources to study labor markets, skills formation, mental health, antisocial behavior, gender, and financial inclusion. I have led complex research initiatives (Lab for Inclusive Fintech, Lab for Sustainable Financial Services and Innovation) and served as PI on an array of research projects, building partnerships across academia, industry, and policy stakeholders.

My research focuses on applied econometrics and causal inference, with growing work on machine learning methods — including AI/ML credit scoring and LLM-based tools. I hold a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley, was previously an Assistant Professor at Princeton University, and served as a Senior Economist at the World Bank.
